The content is intended to give voice to the challenges and triumphs of people with a disability in their own voices, to address issues important to people with disabilities and to provide information about services available in the community. Content will be driven by the participants, and produced with the guidance of support workers with experience in advocacy and radio production. It will give people experience in planning, team-work, interviewing, audio editing and distribution in community radio. We hope it will also foster community engagement and self-efficacy.
Some of the outcomes we hope for include social inclusion, upskilling in self and community advocacy, and a series of 15 minute radio packages to be broadcast on Community Radio 4ZZZ102.1fm in Brisbane, podcast, and distributed to the Community Radio Network. We will also set up social media and website to accompany the project. The course will be free to participants.
